Cerasorb Paste is a resorbable, synthetic, injectable bone
replacement material prepared from β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) for filling of degenerative or traumatic bone defects.
Cerasorb Paste can be introduced directly from the prefilled syringe into the defect.

In contact with vital bone tissue, new bone grows while

Cerasorb Paste is resorbed.

Cerasorb Paste is radiopaque.

Indications
Cerasorb Paste is designed for the filling of bone defects in oromaxillofacial and dental surgery.

Oromaxillofacial surgery and dentistry
Filling and reconstruction of single- and multi-walled, non-infected bone defects, e.g.:
Defects after removal of bone cysts
Sinus floor elevation (subantral augmentation)
Filling of alveolar defects after tooth extraction for preservation of the alveolar ridge
Filling of extraction defects to create an implant bed
Filling of two- or multi-walled infrabony pockets, as well as bi- and trifurcation defects
Filling of defects after root tip resection
Other multi-walled bone defects of the alveolar ridge and facial skull

Restrictions on use
Acute and chronic infections in the operative area (e.g. soft tissue infections; inflammatory, bacterial bone diseases; osteomyelitis).
During antibiotic therapy, the user should decide whether to use Cerasorb Paste on the basis of a benefit-risk analysis.
Severe metabolic diseases, such as severe, uncontrolled or poorly controlled diabetes mellitus
Metabolic or systemic bone diseases that impair bone or wound healing
Disorders of calcium metabolism
Steroid treatment
Drugs that interfere in the calcium metabolism
Immunosuppressive therapy
Endocrinological bone diseases
Use in the region of an active epiphyseal plate
Significant vascular damage close to the implantation site
Insufficient soft tissue coverage
Direct contact with the joint space
Known allergies to one of the ingredients
Radiotherapy in the operative area
Nicotine abuse

Composition
β-tricalcium phosphate
Excipients: sodium hyaluronate, methylcellulose and waterfor injections

Warning

Cerasorb Paste cannot assume a load bearing function.
Depending on the nature and localisation of the bone defect
to be treated, additional osteosynthetic measures may be necessary.
The radiopacity of Cerasorb Paste is comparable to that of cancellous bone and decreases with increasing resorption.
This moderate radiopacity may mask possible pathological states.

Important

The bone defect is to be filled completely. Avoid overfilling to achieve tension-free closure.

Tension-free and saliva-tight wound closure is always required when using Cerasorb Paste in oromaxillofacial surgery and dental medicine.

The use of a membrane is therefore advised especially for larger defect surfaces.

Simultaneous local use with medications lies within theresponsibility of the physician.
